LOGLINE:
Early 2000s. Over the course of his last shift at a movie theater, a stoner cinephile will stop at nothing to get his film screened by the stroke of midnight—with the help of his oddball co-workers.

Hey, I’m Tyler.
This is A Theater Near You—a feature film I’ve been shaping for a long time. Sometimes it sat on the shelf while life and work got in the way. But it never left my mind. If I wasn’t writing it, I was sculpting it.

This movie is a love letter to theaters, buddy comedies, and the beautiful chaos of early adulthood. We’re living in a time where original comedy films are rare. But the world is ready for something fresh—something heartfelt, hilarious, and nostalgic. And we want you along for the ride.

We’re not just making a film—we’re building a world. This campaign is about kickstarting development, yes, but also about creating a community around it. One that helps shape the jokes, the background gags, the world-building—and gets early access to the journey.

It’s a stoner workplace comedy. A last-day-on-the-job fever dream. A ride through adolescence, obsession, nostalgia, and projectionist booth politics.

The year? 2003-ish. We’re not dropping a title card.
The clues are all there—cellphones that flip, DVDs at the front counter, iced tips and AIM away messages.
It’s the awkward and glorious transition from film projectors to digital, from adolescence to adulthood.

📍 The Setting

Canton, Ohio.
A real-deal suburban town an hour outside Cleveland. Not exactly known for its thrills. So when you work at the local movie theater? You make your own fun.

The story plays out over one day inside the theater. And inside the minds of the kids working there—trying to grow up, break out, or just survive their shift.

🎭 Themes

• Coming of Age: That first shitty job. That first adult(ish) identity.
• Humanity vs. Technology: Analog kids in a digital shift.
• Perseverance: What happens when you're a creative with nothing to lose but your breakroom fridge.
